Phew! It has been awhile since my last blog post and a lot has happened! Between racing, coaching, and exploring trails in Crested Butte I have been pretty busy.
Whiskey 50
Scott Moab Enduro Cup
Santa Fe Big Mountain Enduro
Gunnison Half Growler
Skills Clinic in Marquette
Mens Clinic in Copper Harbor
It has been a great couple months and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the rest of summer! I will try to keep this short and sweet...
Whiskey 50: By far the hardest (mentally) endurance race I have ever done. Mostly because of all the dirt road we had to ride but the 7,500 ft of climbing we had to do was definitely contributed! I learned a lot during this race, such as, in a race over 4 hrs I needed other food besides gels. I bonked hard half way up the last big climb and all I could think about was getting some real food to eat! I wanted to quit almost all of the race but was reminded by my friend Andrea that I am NOT a quitter and she is right! I was going to finish this race even if I finished dead last! Well long story short, I finished the race and was dead last. I learned a lot and made some new friends so I am not counting out the weekend as a total loss!

Scott Moab Enduro Cup: I was super excited to race an enduro after a tough weekend at the Whiskey 50. We showed up in Moab and it was 93 degrees! After visiting some bike shops for Phil's new job we went to the campsite to set up camp. This quickly became a challenge with winds around 55 mph. We got out tent set up finally and got some sleep. The next day we pre rode all 4 stages of the race, it felt great to be out riding and goofing around on bikes again! The race the next day started bright and early, with the pro men leaving at 7 am. I found an awesome group of ladies to ride with and we got on our way! I did not have the smoothest race by any means, but ended up with a solid 3rd place finish just 2 seconds out of 2nd place!
Santa Fe Big Mountain Enduro: After having a blast at the Scott Moab Enduro Cup I was excited to race another enduro! We arrived in Santa Fe and did a couple shop visits and went to set up camp. We woke up early the next day and went out to pre ride stages 2 and 3. We had heard of almost everyone shuttling up to the first two stages but decided that we wanted to check out the transfer stage up to them. Little did we know the transfer stage was a grueling 2.5 hr mostly hike a bike climb! We made it to the top and decided to take stage 2 down. Luckily we still had some energy left and headed over to stage 3 for some fun before calling it a day. The next day we got to pre ride stage 1 (with a shuttle), stage 3, and stage 1, race day was going to be tough. This was by far the most competitive women's field I had ever raced for enduro but also the nicest! We all suffered for 10.5 hrs between racing, riding, waiting before the day was over! After some timing issues involving the use of tenths and hundredths, it was determined that I was 2nd by only .75 seconds.
Next week was a blur racing the Gunnison Half Growler, driving back to Michigan, teaching skills clinics (which were a blast!) and driving back to Crested Butte! It felt awesome to relax yesterday and ride some lifts!
