TEAM CAMP WAS SO MUCH FUN! Can we do it again this weekend?? Between the baby bunnies and goats, riding sweet trails, eating hot tomato, hanging out around the fire, making new friends, and getting engaged, I would say it was a pretty epic weekend! I showed up in Fruita on Friday afternoon and couldn't wait to ride! Leaving Crested Buttes 20 degree weather behind and riding in 60 degree weather was much needed. The team suited up and headed to 18 rd for a couple of fun laps down PBR and Joes before going to the Hot Tomato for dinner. I had never ridden 18 rd before and WOW was it fun! Super fast and flowy perfect for the Top Fuel! Big shout out to my boy... I mean fiancé, for dialing in my bike before team camp, it was riding awesome!
Honey Stinger and the city of Fruita hooked us up on an amazing place to stay! If you are ever traveling to Fruita with a bunch of people and are looking for a great place for base camp check out Moon Farm! A GIANT yard complete with fire pit, complimented by a nice farm house with SO many beds, a big living room, nice kitchen, and even laundry! It was really really nice to be able to come home after riding and take a warm shower! If that isn't enough to get you hooked on going there is a little petting zoo right next door! The baby goats were AHHH so cute!
On Saturday we went on more of an adventure ride checking out some of the trails at Rabbit Valley. We all split up into groups and headed off. I ended up riding with Jon and Hutch and it was a blast. We were all about the same speed and had the same goals for the ride so it worked out perfectly! Super fun day on the bikes.
Sunday morning it was time to pack up the Big Agnus tents and chairs, make some breakfast, take some team photos, and head off for a final ride at 18 rd. I had heard so many good things about Zippity Do Da that we had to ride that first! After shredding down Zippity I had to make the decision; Do I go ride PBR one more time? Or do I head back so I can get a few more runs at the MTN before ski season is done for the year? I decided that PBR wouldn't take that long and I might be able to do both. After a quick no stopping lap on PBR I got in the car (still fully dressed in bike clothes) and blasted back to CB. I knew it was going to be close but I didn't realize how close. When I got to the mountain the lift ops had already closed the gate for the final people and Phil was standing inside the gate waiting for me. I had missed it. BUT then I remembered that I had a Honey Stinger energy bar in my pocket and offered a trade with the lift op! He took the bar and let me through the gate! NO WAY! I couldn't believe it. I had ridden bikes in Fruita and was headed up to take the final run of the season at CBMR! (Still in bike jersey and shorts under snow pants) We were about to go down when I decided that we defianately needed a picture of what was happening. Thats when Phil asked me to MARRY him! WHAT! I said YES! And we skied the last run of the season down Banana. Now it was officially the craziest day I have had in a while! Can't wait to spend the rest of my life going on adventures with him!
