As a lot of you know by now Phil and I recently moved to Crested Butte, CO! It took many hours of talking, and a few pro/con lists for us to make this decision. Marquette is such a fantastic place to live and we were very comfortable there. Life in Marquette was easy. So why did we move? As a recent college graduate I did not have a job, and for the first time in what felt like forever I did not have school to worry about. So why not?
I have heard the stories time and time again from my parents, and older friends that they wished they would have taken more time after they graduated to explore and try out other things before jumping head first into a career. I am 24 years old, and have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education, but I also have other passions and talents and am looking forward to using my degree in a non traditional way (at first) before I dive into a career job. So what better time to explore, and move to Colorado!

After Iceman Cometh Challenge I returned to Marquette for the final packing push. This was Sunday afternoon, and we were hoping to leave by Tuesday morning. There was A LOT to get done before then, but somehow we did it! We took our time driving out stopping to visit Phil's parents, and grandparents before making our way for the open road. By Thursday afternoon we were pulling into our new place in Crested Butte South feeling pretty tired, and excited. After a afternoon of unpacking and a quick dinner at Rubens (the only restaurant in CB South) we turned in for the night wondering what the next day would bring. We spent most of the next few days unpacking, and squeezing in a quick bike ride or a skin with the skis whenever possible.
Our jobs hadn't started yet, and weren't scheduled to start until the end of the next week so we decided to pack the camping gear and go ride in Fruita and Moab! Our first stop was Fruita, to ride horsethief, steves, lions, and macs ridge. For future reference this is a 3 hour ride, we had planned more on a 2-2.5 hour ride and barely made it to the car before dark. We changed and loaded the bikes and drove on over to Moab, where we got a sweet camping spot right across the street from slick rock! We had heard so many things about slick rock that we had to ride it. I have to say that it is nothing like I have ever ridden before. It feels like you are riding on another planet!
We moved to Colorado to ski, bike, explore, and push ourselves outside our comfort zone. This is round 2 of living in Colorado for Phil, but for me this is my first time living outside of Michigan. We are super excited to see what the Crested Butte scene is all about! I will keep you all updated on our adventures!
